About the role
The BBC is looking for an experienced Operations Engineer to join its Digital 24/7 Operations team. Working on a hybrid basis, you will support high‑profile online services such as News, Sport, Weather, iPlayer and Sounds across both AWS and on‑premise environments.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 operational support for AWS and on‑premise platforms, working on a shift rota.
- Investigate and resolve service‑impacting incidents using monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Manage incidents from logging to resolution while meeting SLA targets.
- Document incidents and investigations in line with ITIL best practice.
- Communicate technical issues to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives and ensure smooth handover between shifts.
Required profile
- Proven experience in 1st/2nd line support within an operational environment.
- Strong background in AWS operational support.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and incident management.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize multiple incidents.

What we offer
- Hybrid working with four days onsite every five weeks.
- Competitive daily rate of £450 inside IR35.
- Contract until 31 / 03 / 2027.
