Part‑time SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) – 3 days/week

About the role
Our client, a vibrant school in Handsworth, Birmingham, is looking for an experienced SENCO to join the team on a part‑time basis (three days per week). The role focuses on leading the school's SEND provision, supporting staff, and ensuring statutory duties are met, without formal teaching responsibilities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate whole‑school SEND provision and statutory duties.
- Provide modelling, coaching and training for teachers and support staff to embed inclusive practice.
- Oversee assessment, EHCP processes, referrals and personalised provision mapping.
- Liaise with families, external agencies and governors; contribute to school improvement planning.
- Work operationally with two HLTAs who support day‑to‑day delivery.
Required profile
- SENCO qualification (essential).
- Strong understanding of SEND processes, provision and statutory requirements.
- Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and related legislation.
- Ability to lead, model best practice and support staff development.
- Confident collaborative approach with teachers, support staff, parents and external agencies.
