Patent Litigation Associate (London)

About the role

A leading specialist law firm with an international client base across life sciences and technology is seeking a Patent Litigation Associate to join its highly regarded practice. The team handles sophisticated disputes such as infringement, validity, entitlement, SPCs and licensing matters, both domestically and internationally.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with partners and senior lawyers on complex patent litigation matters.
• Manage significant aspects of cases with a high level of responsibility.
• Assist with patent infringement, validity, entitlement and other IP disputes.
• Support domestic, international and multi‑jurisdictional litigation.
• Undertake detailed legal research and analysis.
• Draft pleadings, correspondence, submissions and other legal documentation.
• Assist with hearings, trials, disclosure and case preparation.
• Collaborate with colleagues across life sciences, regulatory, competition and commercial disputes.
• Develop strong relationships with clients and external advisers.
• Contribute to business development, client events, pitches and networking.
• Support knowledge management and the wider practice development.
• Delegate work to and mentor junior lawyers where appropriate.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong experience in patent litigation or a closely related IP practice.
• First‑rate legal skills and strong technical knowledge.
• Experience working within partner‑led teams while taking ownership of matters.
• Excellent drafting, research and analytical abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, confident in client interaction.
• Commercially minded with an interest in business development.
• Ambitious, self‑motivated and keen to develop within a specialist practice.
• Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
• Genuine interest in the life sciences and technology sectors.
