Payroll Manager

About the role

The Payroll Manager will lead end‑to‑end payroll operations for a global facilities management business based in Didsbury, South Manchester. This 6‑9 month contract role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on execution, supporting the finance function during a period of growth and system transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Support the rollout and implementation of a new Workday payroll system.
• Oversee and manage payroll processing to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
• Maintain compliance with all relevant payroll legislation and internal policies.
• Lead and mentor the payroll team, providing guidance and resolving queries.
• Collaborate with accounting and finance departments to integrate payroll data smoothly.
• Prepare and review payroll reports for financial planning and decision‑making.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase payroll efficiency.
• Manage relationships with external payroll providers and other stakeholders.
• Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Senior Payroll Manager or Head of Payroll.
• Demonstrated experience in payroll systems migration or implementation.
• Strong background in payroll reporting.
• Ideally familiar with Workday payroll (not essential).
• Willingness to work on a 6‑9 month contract.
