About the role
The Payroll Manager will lead the end‑to‑end payroll function for Greenwell Gleeson, ensuring accurate, compliant and timely processing for both salaried and hourly staff. This hybrid position is based on the outskirts of Birmingham and is open for immediate start.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and deliver monthly payroll runs for salaried and hourly employees.
- Validate payroll exceptions, adjustments, redundancies and one‑off payments.
- Administer pension auto‑enrolment, deductions and reconcile contributions.
- Monitor tax codes, student loan updates and produce RTI (FPS/EPS) submissions.
- Generate banking files, issue payslips and maintain payroll backups.
- Produce statutory reports (P32, SSP, SMP, SPP) and support Gender Pay Gap reporting.
- Maintain audit trails, segregation of duties and support internal audit requirements.
- Oversee TUPE processes, right‑to‑work checks and leaver final payments.
- Provide payroll summaries to Finance and senior directors and escalate risks.
Required profile
- Available to start at short notice or immediately.
- Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC RTI and pension regulations.
- Experience managing payroll for mixed salaried and hourly workforce.
