Payroll Officer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our team in Romford. The role involves delivering accurate and timely payroll services for clients, ensuring compliance with legislation and providing high‑quality customer support.

Key responsibilities

• Calculate and process employee wages, including overtime, bonuses and salary adjustments.
• Apply PAYE tax, National Insurance deductions and pension contributions.
• Process statutory payments such as SSP, SMP and SPP.
• Prepare and issue payroll and tax documentation for new starters and leavers.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to client queries.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with current legislation.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a payroll position.
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation, PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and statutory payments.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently with excellent time‑management and organisational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and contributing to business success.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using payroll software.
