PE Teacher – Secondary School (Key Stages 3‑4)

About the role
This permanent, full‑time position is for a Physical Education teacher in a vibrant, inclusive secondary school in Newham, London. You will inspire pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering a love of sport, health and fitness while supporting the school’s commitment to student wellbeing and personal development.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons for Key Stages 3 and 4, covering both practical and theoretical components.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and differentiated support.
- Contribute to curriculum development and departmental planning.
- Lead and support extracurricular sports clubs, fixtures and enrichment activities.
- Promote high standards of behaviour, teamwork and sportsmanship.
- Participate fully in the wider life of the school, including safeguarding duties.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- A degree in Physical Education, Sports Science or a closely related subject.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and PE assessment requirements.
- Passion for student development and inclusive teaching.
Required skills
- In‑depth knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for Physical Education.
- Ability to design and deliver practical and theoretical PE lessons.
- Effective classroom management and assessment skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
