Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence Director (Solicitor)

About the role

A leading national law firm, recognised in The Legal 500, is seeking an experienced Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Director to join its London office on a permanent basis.

Key responsibilities

• Report directly to the Board and collaborate to meet performance targets.
• Lead and develop the Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence department, ensuring exceptional legal service and client care.
• Supervise, mentor and provide technical guidance to solicitors, fee earners and support staff.
• Manage a varied caseload of high‑value personal injury and clinical negligence matters, from initial instruction to court proceedings.
• Draft schedules of loss, review medical records and ensure accurate time‑costing procedures.
• Attend clients, take instructions and prepare cases in line with the Civil Procedure Rules.
• Implement recommendations from monthly file reviews promptly.
• Provide technical expertise to team members on complex clinical negligence issues.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 5 years PQE in personal injury and/or clinical negligence.
• Clean, valid practising certificate at the time of application.
• Proven supervisory experience with a track record of meeting KPIs.
• Strong client‑care approach and ability to handle sensitive matters with empathy.
• Excellent networking, communication and business development skills.
• Analytical and organisational ability, using sound judgment and initiative.
• Working knowledge of clinical negligence, including privately funded cases.
• Advocacy experience is an advantage.
• High‑level IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
