Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (Year 1/2)

About the role

This Fixed‑term Pre‑Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician position starts in September 2026 and offers a two‑year vocational pathway to become a qualified pharmacy technician. You will rotate across primary‑care pharmacy settings, GP practices and community pharmacies while building a work‑based portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Complete the Diploma in Pharmacy Services (SCQF Level 7 & 8) through blended learning with West College Scotland.
• Undertake vocational training (SVQ) across multiple pharmacy environments.
• Build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate competence for GPhC registration.
• Support safe and effective medication delivery to patients.
• Travel between designated rotation sites as required.

Required profile

• National 5 grades A‑C in Biology, Chemistry, English and Mathematics (plus one additional subject) – Route A.
• Or National 5 grades A‑C in English and Mathematics plus an approved Pharmacy Services SQA course – Route B.
• IELTS score of 7 if English is not first language.
• Eligibility for a Modern Apprenticeship as defined by Skills Development Scotland.

What we offer

• Year 1 salary at 70% of Band 4 (real living wage approx. £12.60/hour).
• Year 2 salary at 75% of Band 4.
