Principal Registered Building Inspector (Class 3G/H)

About the role

The successful candidate will provide advice and support to clients on compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 and its secondary legislation. The role focuses on statutory duty holders for higher‑risk buildings throughout design, construction and occupation phases.

Key responsibilities

• Brief project teams on BSA 2022 requirements and required competencies.
• Support clients at design team meetings and review competence submissions.
• Identify potential BSA 2022 compliance risks and advise on building control approval (GW2) and completion certification (GW3).
• Review and audit “golden thread” information and liaise with Building Control and Independent Construction Assessor teams.
• Attend design meetings to ensure BSA 2022 matters are addressed and escalate issues to the Director of Assurance Services.
• Determine client needs and produce proposals for assurance services.

Required profile

• Accredited RICS, CABE, CIOB or RIBA status with extensive experience in higher‑risk building projects.
• Background as Senior Design Manager, Project Manager or Architect delivering complex building projects.
• Ability to assess competence gaps using PAS Flex 8670 or similar frameworks.
• Strong organisational, commercial and client‑facing skills with excellent written and verbal communication.

Required skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
• In‑depth knowledge of Building Safety Act 2022 compliance requirements.
