Private Client Tax Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Private Client Tax Manager to join a successful accountancy practice in Birmingham. The role involves managing a diverse portfolio of high‑net‑worth individuals, landed estates, privately owned businesses and senior executives, delivering expert personal tax advice across a range of complex matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, liaising internally and meeting clients regularly.
• Approve technically robust tax computations and identify technical issues.
• Deliver complex tax advisory outcomes on Inheritance Tax, Capital Gains Tax, income tax and international tax matters.
• Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge and ensure service aligns with the firm’s Service Charter.
• Develop and lead the tax team, conduct reviews, provide feedback and build capability.
• Drive process efficiency, oversee WIP and billing, maintain compliance trackers and support client onboarding.
• Identify advisory opportunities within existing and new client relationships.
• Collaborate with other practice areas and contribute to firm‑wide initiatives, including technology projects.

Required profile

• Qualified ACA or ACCA; CTA qualification is desirable.
• Extensive experience in personal tax, preferably with high‑net‑worth clients.
• Proven ability to manage complex tax assignments and lead a team.
• Strong client‑facing skills and commercial awareness.
