Private Client Tax Manager – Trusts & Estates

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Private Client Tax Manager with a strong focus on trusts and estates to join a leading private client tax team in the City of London. The role combines technical tax advisory, client relationship management and leadership of junior staff, operating in a hybrid working model.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of trusts, estates and high‑net‑worth individuals.
• Serve as primary contact for trustees, executors, beneficiaries and advisers.
• Lead trust and estate tax advisory work, producing written reports.
• Advise on Capital Gains Tax (CGT) and Inheritance Tax (IHT) planning, including trusts and lifetime transfers.
• Oversee trust accounts and preparation of trust/estate tax returns.
• Manage work‑in‑progress, billing and delivery against deadlines.
• Support partners with business development and complex matters.
• Review junior team members’ work and provide coaching.
• Drive process improvements and efficiency.

Required profile

• CTA and/or STEP qualification (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience in UK trusts and estates tax.
• Strong technical knowledge of private client tax, including anti‑avoidance rules.
• Experience handling HMRC enquiries and settlements.
• Demonstrated people‑management and coaching abilities.
• Commercially aware and client‑focused mindset.
