Procurement Specialist – Supply Chain

About the role

JDR Cable Systems is expanding its Supply Chain team and is looking for a Procurement Specialist to support growing business and project demand at our Newcastle facility. Reporting to the Senior Procurement Specialist, you will ensure that materials, goods, and services are sourced efficiently, cost‑effectively, and in line with production schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Compile and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) aligned with project and production timelines.
• Raise and manage Purchase Orders (POs) following company procedures and supplier agreements.
• Expedite open orders and identify opportunities to improve delivery performance.
• Evaluate supplier quotations to ensure best value and compliance.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms with key suppliers.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including performance reviews.
• Represent Supply Chain in project meetings and provide stakeholder updates.
• Support tender and bid activities with timely and accurate supplier input.
• Maintain accurate procurement data in internal systems.
• Resolve invoice queries to ensure smooth supplier payments.
• Assist team operations during peak periods and absences.
• Identify and onboard new suppliers to support growth.
• Contribute to cost‑saving initiatives and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of procurement experience in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong commercial background with proven negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and respond to urgent needs.
• High attention to detail and strong problem‑solving capability.
• Good understanding of legal and contractual terms.
• Commitment to safety and ethical working practices.
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
• Preferably holding or working towards a CIPS qualification.
