Programme Manager – Ground Segment Programme

About the role

Space Digital – Connected Intelligence is seeking an experienced Programme Manager to lead the Ground Segment Programme for the next phase of the UK Military’s Satellite Communications System. You will oversee a Project Management Office (PMO) with up to four Project Managers reporting to you, driving delivery, cross‑functional synergies and strict adherence to schedule, budget and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multi‑function project teams to deliver the Ground Segment Programme on quality, on time and on cost, building cross‑functional relationships to maximise synergies.
• Oversee all programme execution, implementing integrated planning, scope baselining, strict change control and comprehensive reporting.
• Manage the full programme budget, ensuring expenditure stays within the allocated limits.
• Direct personnel and resource management across the programme, providing leadership to Project Managers and the PMO.
• Identify non‑quality issues, drive rapid resolution and embed continuous‑improvement lessons into future processes.
• Ensure strict compliance with Health and Safety regulations, prioritising the well‑being of all personnel.

Required profile

• Proven experience in programme management within complex defence or communications environments, with expertise in integrated planning, scope and schedule management.
• Experience directing PMO structures, leading teams and managing stakeholders, especially with military or government customers.
• Track record of large‑scale budgetary management and strong financial acumen.
• Commitment to ethical conduct and full compliance with Airbus Defence and Space Ethics & Compliance policies.
