Project Manager – Secure Communications R&D

About the role

Airbus Defence and Space is seeking an enthusiastic Project Manager to lead the end‑to‑end development of next‑generation secure communications infrastructure and software in Portsmouth. Reporting to the Programme Manager, you will drive complex R&D projects from initiation through to customer acceptance in a rapidly changing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, controlling and closing of projects developing secure communications infrastructure, software and services.
• Manage complex development projects in strict accordance with Airbus project lifecycle standards.
• Apply core project‑management methods and processes effectively within a dynamic R&D setting.
• Use strong communication and leadership skills to steer projects through changing requirements and ensure successful delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing the full project lifecycle from proposal to final customer acceptance.
• Strong technical background in telecommunications, satellite communications systems, software or equipment development, preferably for defence applications.
• Practical experience managing AGILE software development projects.
• Familiarity with Project Management Institute (PMI) lifecycle guidance, which underpins Airbus standards.
