Project Architect

About the role

Abode Architects, a boutique residential practice in Glasgow city centre, is seeking a Project Architect to lead residential projects from concept through construction. This hands‑on position offers a hybrid working model and a 35‑hour week, allowing you to shape high‑quality private homes across the Central Belt.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day progress on selected residential projects.
• Develop design proposals into clear planning and building warrant packages.
• Prepare coordinated drawings, schedules and supporting information.
• Attend client meetings, site visits and design reviews.
• Coordinate consultants, track actions and close out information.
• Respond to planning, warrant and technical queries.
• Support construction phase, handling contractor queries and site reviews.
• Help maintain design intent, detailing and quality standards on site.
• Contribute to improving studio systems as the practice grows.

Required profile

• ARB‑registered architect with at least 2 years post‑registration experience.
• Strong experience on residential projects in Scotland.
• Proven ability to prepare Building Warrant packages.
• Good working knowledge of Scottish planning processes.
• Comfortable attending sites, speaking with contractors and resolving practical issues.
• Confident communicator with clients, consultants and contractors.
• Organised, proactive and able to take responsibility.
• Passion for design quality, construction detail and practical delivery.
