About the role
The Marine Society & Sea Cadets is seeking a Project Assistant to support the On The Water programme at the Midlands Boat Station in Birmingham. You will help deliver boating activities for young people aged 9‑14, encouraging confidence and skill development while working alongside staff and volunteers.
Key responsibilities
- Welcome and register participants for the On The Water sessions.
- Collect, upload and report daily statistics on project progress.
- Manage bookings, waiting lists and reduce participant drop‑outs.
- Communicate with participants, parents and carers about Sea Cadets opportunities.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants in collaboration with boat station staff.
- Facilitate participant surveys and gather feedback from adults.
- Attend project meetings and support evaluation activities.
Required profile
- Previous experience working with volunteers, young people or diverse community groups.
- Customer‑facing experience and ability to manage data and targets.
- Self‑motivated, organised, creative and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible, enthusiastic and able to handle a varied workload.
- Successful DBS check.
