Property Damage Solicitor – Birmingham

About the role

The Legists is seeking an experienced Property Damage Solicitor to join its Birmingham office. You will work within a leading international law firm’s insurance practice, handling complex, high‑value property damage disputes for a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a personal caseload of litigated property damage matters from inception to resolution.
• Assist senior partners on large, multi‑party claims involving fire, flood, construction defects, contamination, explosions and other major losses.
• Advise insurers and commercial clients on first‑party claims, policy coverage issues and subrogation recovery actions.
• Prepare pleadings, witness statements, expert reports and conduct case strategy meetings.
• Liaise with experts, insurers, and opposing counsel to progress matters efficiently.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with 6+ years post‑qualification experience, preferably 3‑5 years in insurance‑backed property damage litigation.
• Proven track record of handling first‑party property damage claims and subrogation actions.
• Strong technical understanding of insurance policy wording and coverage analysis.
• Excellent organisational abilities and a commercial approach to client service.

Required skills

• Experience in property damage litigation, including fire, flood, and construction defect cases.
• Knowledge of insurance law, policy interpretation and subrogation principles.
• Ability to manage cases through the full litigation process.
