Purchasing Manager – Hybrid (3 days onsite)

About the role

We are seeking a Purchasing Manager to join a fast‑growing distribution business in Birmingham. The role is hybrid, requiring three days on site each week, and will lead procurement, stock planning and buying across a large product portfolio. You will work closely with Sales, Finance, Vendor Management and Operations to ensure product availability while controlling costs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end‑to‑end procurement function, including purchasing, stock planning and replenishment.
• Translate sales forecasts and vendor plans into buying decisions that optimise working capital.
• Develop and embed demand‑forecasting processes for vendors, categories and customers.
• Manage distributor relationships, negotiate pricing, delivery terms and rebates.
• Collaborate with logistics and warehouse teams to improve fulfilment performance.
• Optimise ERP usage and drive automation and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Lead, develop and mentor a team of Buyers, fostering a data‑driven culture.

Required profile

• Proven experience in procurement or purchasing within distribution, reseller or similarly fast‑paced environments.
• Strong understanding of supply‑chain, stock management and demand planning.
• Track record of working cross‑functionally with Sales, Finance and Operations.
• Commercially aware, financially disciplined and able to challenge and develop teams.
• Resilient, hands‑on and comfortable in a rapidly changing environment.
