Quality and Risk Manager – Governance Team

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Quality and Risk Manager to join the Governance team at The Harborne Hospital. You will lead the implementation and delivery of governance activities, focusing on risk, incident and complaint investigations, while ensuring compliance with external standards and inspections.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and implement incident management processes, applying PSIRF principles and monitoring action plans.
• Create and present reports for hospital committees, including trend analysis and recommendations.
• Implement and monitor the facility‑wide audit programme, collaborating with Heads of Department to develop robust improvement plans.
• Work with HCA UK Corporate Clinical Services and local departments to maintain a standardised approach to CQC inspection compliance.
• Act as Policy Controller, directing policy reviewers as needed.
• Oversee risk management processes, conducting regular reviews of departmental and facility risk registers.

Required profile

• Specialist knowledge and experience in governance, incident, complaint and risk management.
• Proven ability to manage investigations and coordinate learning responses across departments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience implementing change or new systems.
• Experience in clinical governance within a healthcare setting.

Required skills

• Knowledge of developing and embedding governance frameworks.
• Familiarity with CQC inspection and other healthcare accreditation frameworks.
• Strong background in quality improvement, incident and risk management.
• Good IT skills, including Excel, Word and the Microsoft Office suite.
• Effective presentation abilities.
