Quality Assurance Inspector – Civil (Contract)

About the role

SGS is seeking a Contract Quality Assurance Inspector for civil construction projects. The role involves on‑site auditing of construction activities to ensure they meet safety, environmental and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections and verify workmanship, materials and installation against approved drawings and specifications.
• Review construction drawings and project documentation before work starts to identify scope, risks and key requirements.
• Participate in kickoff, progress, commissioning, turnover and warranty meetings.
• Identify hazards, enforce safe work practices and monitor compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and other regulatory requirements.
• Monitor environmental controls such as sediment and erosion control, hazardous material handling, fire protection and pollution prevention.
• Maintain detailed daily inspection records, including measurements, marked‑up drawings and photographic evidence.
• Track construction progress, document deviations and report on quality, safety and environmental performance.
• Verify that installed materials comply with the approved bill of materials and project standards.

Required profile

• Hands‑on field experience in inspection or supervision of major building construction projects.
• Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and related safety standards.
• Ability to independently assess compliance and enforce corrective actions on active sites.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
