Quality Manager – Aerospace

About the role

The client, a market‑leading manufacturer of low‑volume, high‑precision aerospace and automotive components, is seeking an experienced Quality Manager for its Birmingham site. Reporting to the Operations Director, you will ensure that aerospace products are produced in full compliance with customer requirements, regulatory standards and the internal quality management system.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Quality Inspectors and Technicians, fostering a proactive, prevention‑focused quality culture.
• Ensure manufacturing follows engineering drawings, specifications, procedures and customer requirements; review and approve documentation, inspection records and quality reports.
• Drive adherence to First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements in line with AS9102.
• Lead investigations of internal, customer and supplier non‑conformances, applying RCA techniques such as 8D, 5 Why and Fishbone analysis.
• Implement and verify corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and support Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
• Identify and deliver continuous‑improvement initiatives, supporting Lean manufacturing and process capability enhancements.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Quality Manager in aerospace or high‑precision manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100, AS9102 and FAI processes.
• Hands‑on experience with non‑conformance management, RCA methods (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone) and CAPA implementation.
• Ability to lead and coach quality personnel and collaborate with engineering, operations and supply‑chain teams.
