Regulatory Lawyer – Fitness to Practise

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Regulatory Lawyer to lead our Fitness to Practise function in London. This hybrid role will allow you to work 1–2 days a week on‑site while providing strategic legal oversight across complex regulatory investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic oversight of Fitness to Practise casework managed by external legal providers.
• Ensure investigations, case preparation and hearing outcomes meet the highest professional and regulatory standards.
• Lead high‑risk, sensitive matters, advising senior stakeholders on legal strategy and risk management.
• Manage and develop a team of legal professionals and drive continuous improvement of regulatory enforcement.
• Monitor performance, quality and compliance of external providers using management information and performance data.
• Contribute to governance, quality assurance, policy development and broader organisational strategy.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with at least five years post‑qualification experience.
• Significant expertise in Fitness to Practise or a comparable regulatory environment.
• Proven experience leading legal teams and overseeing external legal providers.
• Strong technical legal knowledge and sound judgement on complex regulatory investigations.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
