Sandwich Student – Building Surveying (12‑month Placement)

About the role

Join Colliers' Project & Building Consultancy team in London for a 12‑month sandwich placement. You will work alongside qualified surveyors on commercial projects, gaining hands‑on experience in inspections, reporting and project support while building evidence towards RICS competencies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with site inspections and surveys nationwide, recording measurements, photographs and defect notes.
• Support building pathology, technical due diligence and highlight ESG/life‑cycle considerations.
• Draft sections of survey reports, schedules of condition, preventive maintenance plans and reinstatement cost assessments.
• Help compile dilapidation evidence, maintain trackers and prepare draft schedules under supervision.
• Assist with contract administration, tender documentation, programme and cost tracking, and support snagging and handover activities.
• Provide support on landlord‑tenant matters such as Licences to Alter and related approvals.
• Follow CDM 2015 and company health‑and‑safety procedures, contributing to risk assessments and method statements.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Building Surveying or related degree programme (sandwich year).
• Motivated to develop technical and commercial surveying skills and achieve RICS qualification.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under close supervision.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Required skills

• Site inspection techniques and measurement documentation.
• Photographic recording of defects and conditions.
• Understanding of CDM 2015 regulations.
• Basic knowledge of ESG and life‑cycle assessment considerations.
