School Finance Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a proactive and organised Finance Assistant to support the day‑to‑day financial operations of a school in Smiths Wood, Birmingham. This temporary full‑time position offers the chance to work within an educational environment while developing your finance expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for all finance‑related queries, responding or escalating as needed.
• Enter and maintain supplier and debtor records in the Trust’s finance system.
• Process purchase orders from requisitions, ensuring authorisation and timeliness.
• Maintain accurate financial records and support the wider finance team with daily administrative tasks.
• Assist with general finance administration to ensure smooth departmental operations.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a finance or accounts environment.
• Purchase ledger experience.
• Knowledge of IRIS Financials and procurement systems.
• Experience within the education sector is desirable.
• Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Professional, reliable and proactive approach.
