School Nurse (Band 6) – NHS

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Band 6 School Nurse to join its open‑access school nursing service. Based at Greenock Health Care Centre, you will work across home, community and primary‑care settings, promoting healthy lifestyles for school‑aged children, young people and vulnerable families.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver an open‑access school nursing service to families and communities.
• Promote healthy lifestyles and address local public‑health priorities.
• Focus on the needs of school‑aged children, young people and vulnerable families.
• Work collaboratively across home, community and primary‑care environments.

Required profile

• First‑level nursing registration (NMC).
• Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (School Nurse or Public Health Nurse) qualification on the 3rd part of the NMC register.
• Evidence of ongoing post‑registration CPD, including essential CAMHS training and HEI modules.
• Current driving licence.
• Knowledge of national and local public‑health initiatives, Getting it Right for Every Child, the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014, SIGN guidelines and child‑protection procedures.
• Experience working with children and young people.
