Scientist – R&D (Contact Lens Materials)

About the role

Join CooperVision’s R&D team in Southampton to drive innovation in soft contact lens materials, formulations and processes. You will work on projects from early‑stage research through to product and process development, generating high‑quality experimental data that supports new product opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experimental plans investigating novel materials, formulations and manufacturing processes.
• Generate, analyse and interpret scientific data using appropriate statistical techniques.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings.
• Support multiple project streams, managing assigned activities, deliverables and timelines.
• Identify technical challenges and contribute to structured problem‑solving.
• Continuously improve laboratory methods, tools and ways of working.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experimental experience in material or formulation research.
• Strong scientific judgement and critical thinking.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary R&D group.
• Proactive attitude towards continuous learning and staying updated on scientific literature.
