About the role
The Hope Virtual School is looking for a passionate Secondary Education Advocate to join its child‑centred team in Bristol. This permanent, full‑time position focuses on improving educational outcomes for children and young people in care during their secondary phase.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with networks of schools, carers, parents and partners to promote high‑quality educational practice.
- Develop and monitor timely Personal Education Plans (PEPs) that support attendance, engagement, attainment and transition.
- Use data to track progress, identify emerging needs and inform service delivery priorities.
- Celebrate and promote the work of designated teachers, schools and wider networks.
- Remove barriers early by working closely with schools, carers and parents.
- Escalate and navigate complex multi‑agency casework with the phase leadership team.
- Plan and review the use of Pupil Premium Plus funding to maximise impact.
Required profile
- Strong belief that education is a protective factor for children and young people in care.
- Commitment to inclusion, early intervention and high aspirations.
- Understanding of the challenges within the education and care system.
- Proven experience improving educational outcomes for children and young people.
- Ability to build excellent relationships with young people, education settings, social‑care colleagues and families.
