SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist School

About the role
Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist education setting in Meldreth. This is a rewarding opportunity to work alongside experienced teaching staff, helping pupils with a range of additional needs to achieve their full potential in a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and other learning needs.
- Assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging, personalised learning activities.
- Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive social skills.
- Supporting behaviour management in line with school policies and individual care plans.
- Providing support during lessons, breaktimes and educational activities.
- Preparing classroom resources and learning materials.
- Monitoring and recording pupils' progress and achievements.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers and external professionals to provide the best possible support for each pupil.
Required profile
- Passionate about supporting children and young people with SEN.
- Patient, compassionate and resilient.
- Able to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues.
- Flexible, proactive and willing to learn.
- A strong communicator with excellent teamwork skills.
