SEND Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Autism Support

About the role
This full‑time, term‑time position starts in September 2026 and provides dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 8 pupil with Autism in a specialist provision in Merton, London. You will work on‑site in a supportive school environment, helping the student regulate emotions, engage with learning and develop independence.
Key responsibilities
- Build a positive, trusting relationship with the assigned pupil.
- Deliver clear, consistent and fair support throughout the school day.
- Assist the student in emotional regulation, classroom participation and independent tasks.
- Collaborate with teachers, occupational therapists, speech‑and‑language therapists and CAMHS professionals.
- Maintain accurate records of progress and interventions.
Required profile
- Graduate or recent graduate with a genuine passion for supporting young people with Autism.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND is desirable.
- Calm, patient and confident, able to set firm but fair boundaries.
- Available full‑time from September 2026 to July 2027.
