SEND Teaching Assistant – Year 1 (Full‑time, Term‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support Year 1 pupils with special educational needs in a primary school in Birmingham’s Yardley area. The role runs from September 2026 to April 2027 on a full‑time, term‑time basis, providing both one‑to‑one learning support and personal care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging one‑to‑one sessions to support learning, communication and social development of SEND pupils.
• Collaborate with the SENDCO and class teacher to implement tailored learning plans.
• Assist pupils with personal care needs, ensuring dignity and compassion.
• Support classroom activities and help maintain a positive learning environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or similar setting.
• Enhanced DBS check (must be on the update service).
• Relevant qualifications or demonstrable experience in SEND support.
• Willingness to undertake ongoing training as required.

Required skills

• Ability to provide individualized educational support.
• Competence in delivering personal care with patience.
