Senior Applied AI Engineer

About the role

GSK is looking for a Senior Applied AI Engineer to join its Applied AI team within the AI/ML department. You will work at the intersection of scientific research and business needs, turning cutting‑edge AI research into practical tools that accelerate drug discovery and improve decision‑making across the company.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advisory guidance on AI/ML use‑cases, feasibility, model selection and deployment options for business units.
• Co‑design and prototype proof‑of‑concept solutions with product and domain teams.
• Translate stakeholder requirements into scoped technical solutions with clear success criteria.
• Build, train, evaluate and iterate machine‑learning models for scientific and business problems, including NLP/LLM, knowledge graphs, causal inference, computer vision and predictive modeling.
• Package models as production‑ready services (APIs, containerised deployments) on GCP, AWS or Azure.
• Develop and maintain agentic AI systems, multi‑agent architectures and LLM‑based tools where appropriate.
• Share reusable patterns, baseline models and tested pipelines, embedding privacy, ethics and regulatory considerations.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with proven experience delivering applied AI/ML solutions.
• Hands‑on, consultative mindset able to work within cross‑functional teams.
• Experience collaborating with scientists, product owners and domain experts.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Machine‑learning model development and deployment.
• NLP and large language model (LLM) applications.
• Knowledge‑graph construction and causal inference techniques.
• Computer‑vision and predictive‑modeling methods.
• Cloud platforms: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure.
• Containerisation and API development (Docker, Kubernetes, REST APIs).
• Agentic AI systems and multi‑agent architectures.
