Senior Backend Engineer – Cloud Services

About the role

Trustonic is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and deliver cloud‑native services that power its device lifecycle management platform. The role is remote with occasional attendance at the Winnersh office, offering the chance to shape architecture for a high‑scale, event‑driven telecoms solution.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Python‑based backend services using modern AWS serverless technologies.
• Create and evolve event‑driven architectures with AWS Lambda, SQS, SNS and Step Functions.
• Ensure code quality, testability, observability and performance in production environments.
• Contribute to system architecture decisions, design reviews and technical strategy across multiple services.
• Promote best practices in CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and structured logging.
• Collaborate closely with product, QA and engineering teams to deliver resilient features.
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks and reliability issues in distributed systems.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience building scalable cloud services.
• Strong background in event‑driven, distributed systems.
• Ability to influence technical direction and drive architectural decisions.
• Experience working in a fast‑moving, global technology environment.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• AWS services: Lambda, SQS, SNS, Step Functions, serverless architecture.
• CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Monitoring, observability and structured logging tools.
• Design and implementation of event‑driven systems.
