Senior Childcare Lawyer – Locum (Advocacy)

About the role

An immediate locum opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Lawyer specialising in public childcare law. You will join a busy Local Authority legal team in Wembley, focusing on advocacy and court hearings rather than managing a caseload.

Key responsibilities

• Attend and conduct court hearings on behalf of the local authority.
• Draft legal advice, opinions and documentation for childcare cases.
• Support case preparation and provide research assistance.
• Deliver training and guidance to colleagues on public childcare law.
• Provide specialist legal support across the legal team as required.

Required profile

• Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with advocacy rights.
• Extensive experience in public childcare law and family court advocacy.
• Proven ability to conduct hearings independently and confidently.
• Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, case law and court procedures.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills.
• Experience within local government is highly desirable.
