Senior Commercial / Contracts Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Commercial / Contracts Manager to lead commercial ownership across a growing portfolio of major infrastructure projects in the North West. The role is hybrid, with an expectation of three days per week in our Manchester office.

Key responsibilities

• Lead commercial and contractual management of infrastructure projects from tender through to final account.
• Act as senior commercial interface between project delivery, finance, operations, clients, contractors and subcontractors.
• Oversee contract administration, including obligations, notices, variations, claims and compensation events.
• Monitor project performance against budgets, forecasts, KPIs, SLAs and contractual deliverables.
• Support pricing, tender reviews, commercial strategy, risk assessment and bid decision‑making.
• Drive cost control, margin protection, forecasting accuracy, cash‑flow visibility and commercial reporting.
• Review and manage applications for payment, subcontractor accounts, client valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Identify and mitigate commercial, contractual and financial risks across live projects and future workstreams.
• Collaborate with finance to improve reporting, cost allocation, governance and overall commercial visibility.
• Develop scalable commercial processes as the portfolio expands.

Required profile

• Significant experience in commercial management, contracts management and quantity surveying within high‑voltage, utilities, rail or large‑scale construction environments.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑million‑pound project portfolios and deliver commercial governance.
• Strong understanding of KPI, SLA performance, risk management and financial reporting.
