Senior Decision Scientist – Lending

About the role

Love Finance Limited is seeking a Senior Decision Scientist to lead the creation of cutting‑edge credit decisioning models for SME lending. Based in central Birmingham, you will work at the intersection of data, risk and product to shape the future of the company’s lending strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy machine‑learning and statistical models for credit risk, affordability and pricing.
• Own the end‑to‑end model lifecycle – data preparation, feature engineering, modelling, validation, deployment and ongoing monitoring.
• Develop monitoring frameworks and performance dashboards to ensure model health.
• Drive innovation by incorporating new data sources, challenger models and running A/B experiments.
• Translate complex model outputs into clear, actionable business insights for stakeholders.

Required profile

• Strong experience in machine learning within SME lending.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Proven track record of end‑to‑end model development and deployment.
• Background in fintech or automated decision‑making environments.
• Solid understanding of UK credit risk regulations.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and business audiences.
• Experience with model governance, monitoring frameworks and a commercial mindset.
