Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer

About the role

The consultancy is seeking a Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer to lead and deliver contaminated land investigations for a diverse portfolio of projects in Birmingham. This role offers the chance to take on greater technical leadership while mentoring junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and manage Phase 1 and Phase 2 contaminated land investigations.
• Prepare factual and interpretative reports and develop conceptual site models.
• Design and supervise ground investigations, including soil and groundwater sampling.
• Review laboratory results, assess contamination data and produce remediation strategies.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, regulators and other consultants.
• Support environmental permitting, regulatory requirements and manage project budgets and technical deliverables.
• Mentor and support junior team members.

Required profile

• Degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline.
• Several years’ experience in a geo‑environmental or contaminated land consultancy.
• Strong experience across Phase 1 and Phase 2 investigations and site sampling.
• Excellent technical report writing and project management skills.
• Good understanding of UK contaminated land legislation and guidance.
• Full UK driving licence; chartered status or working towards it is advantageous.
