Senior Health Care Support Worker – Internal Candidates Only

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join the Redburn Rehabilitation Ward at Ayrshire Central Hospital. This permanent position is open exclusively to internal NHS Ayrshire & Arran staff and involves delivering person‑centred care to stroke rehabilitation patients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic interventions and support the rehabilitation process for patients on the 20‑bed Stroke Rehabilitation Ward.
• Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team, including senior charge nurses, to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Complete required training modules such as STARs and the Stroke Competency Toolkit.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
• Work a rotational shift pattern of day and night shifts, including weekends, covering 34.5 hours per week.

Required profile

• SVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in a healthcare‑related subject.
• Experience working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team in a rehabilitation or acute care setting.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Awareness of relevant legislation, policies, standards and best practice frameworks.
• Commitment to ongoing personal development and training.
