Senior Java Backend Developer

About the role

We are partnering with a leading global organisation to find a Senior Backend Developer to join a high‑performing engineering team in London. The role focuses on designing and building large‑scale, enterprise‑grade Java applications using Spring technologies, with a hybrid working model (three days onsite).

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build scalable microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Drive architectural decisions around performance, security and scalability.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from design to production support.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver strategic technology initiatives.
• Champion best practices, code quality and automated testing.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical leadership.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional Java backend development experience.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and backend performance.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment.
