Senior Lead Accountant

About the role

Our client, a prestigious global law firm, is seeking a Senior Lead Accountant for its London office. The role supports the Director of Finance, Europe & Asia and the Manager of International Accounting, covering financial accounting, management reporting and tax compliance across multiple European jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review reconciliations, analyse variances and resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Produce management reports and ad‑hoc variance analysis for the Director of Finance.
• Calculate VAT for European offices and ensure accurate filing documentation.
• Support statutory accounts, tax returns and audit deliverables for European and relevant international offices, liaising with external advisers and auditors.
• Monitor tax, VAT and statutory compliance deadlines.
• Maintain accounting records for selected international offices, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
• Evaluate internal controls over financial reporting and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with the Lead Accountant, Asia and other finance colleagues on tax returns and accounting materials for offices in London, Dublin, Paris, Milan, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore and future European locations.
• Support Pillar Two reporting and contribute to ad‑hoc projects such as new office openings, process improvements and finance transformation initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Relevant experience in financial accounting, audit, tax or professional services.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work independently and exercise professional judgement on accounting and tax matters.
