Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor

About the role

Join a leading engineering and construction business as a Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor within its established commercial team in the West Midlands. You will manage complex MEP packages on large‑scale developments, working closely with project teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors to ensure successful commercial delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full commercial lifecycle of MEP packages from procurement to final account.
• Lead subcontractor procurement, including tender preparation, analysis and negotiation.
• Administer NEC contracts and related contractual processes.
• Produce and manage cost reports, forecasts and cash‑flow projections.
• Handle valuations, variations and change‑control procedures.
• Identify and mitigate commercial risks while seeking value‑creation opportunities.
• Prepare, negotiate and agree final accounts.
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, site teams and subcontractors.
• Support value‑engineering and cost‑optimisation initiatives.
• Mentor junior commercial team members as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in MEP or Building Services.
• Extensive experience across all project lifecycle stages, both pre‑contract and post‑contract.
• Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractor procurement and multiple interfaces.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Strong background in cost reporting, forecasting, cash‑flow management and variance analysis.
• Experience handling valuations, variations and change‑control.
• Ability to prepare and agree final accounts.
• Commercial awareness with risk‑management and value‑creation focus.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• RICS membership (MRICS/AssocRICS) or working towards it.
