Senior Operational Excellence Consultant

About the role

Our client, a leading specialist commercial insurance provider, is seeking a Senior Operational Excellence Consultant to drive operational performance across Underwriting Operations. Based in London or Manchester on a hybrid basis, the role will own the operating model, improve process efficiency and support strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Implement recognised Operational Excellence methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
• Lead end‑to‑end delivery of process optimisation workstreams.
• Conduct analytical assessments to identify trends, emerging risks and efficiency opportunities.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive control framework and reporting oversight for Underwriting Operations.
• Collaborate to improve data quality and alignment with portfolio management and performance reporting.
• Partner with leadership to identify cost‑benefit opportunities and process enhancements.
• Prioritise and support IT‑related initiatives with the Business Change team.
• Support onboarding and implementation of new products, initiatives and process improvements.
• Lead a small operational excellence team to ensure delivery of improvements.
• Work closely with Data & Analytics to enhance performance‑driving reporting.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience in insurance, preferably underwriting operations, with a focus on optimisation and process improvement.
• Strong knowledge of Lean, Continuous Improvement and OPEX methodologies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication at all organisational levels.
• Analytical acumen, problem‑solving skills and intellectual curiosity.
• Understanding of insurance operational practices and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Ability to plan, manage and prioritise multiple responsibilities effectively.
