Senior PHP Developer (Laravel) – Birmingham

About the role

We are a fast‑growing Tech‑For‑Good company based in Birmingham, looking for a senior‑level PHP Developer to help scale our digital transformation initiatives. You will join an agile development team that uses Laravel on the backend and modern JavaScript frameworks on the front end.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain web applications using PHP and Laravel.
• Collaborate with front‑end engineers to integrate React/Redux components.
• Write efficient MySQL queries and optimise database performance.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous integration pipelines.
• Mentor junior developers and gradually take on a lead role within the team.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of commercial experience as a PHP developer.
• Strong understanding of Laravel; experience with Symfony is a plus.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and collaborative teamwork.
• Ability to work onsite in Birmingham twice a month and remotely the rest of the time.
