Senior Professional Indemnity Underwriter – Direct Channels

About the role

IPS Group is seeking a Senior Professional Indemnity Underwriter to lead its Direct Channels business. Based in Manchester with hybrid working, you will shape underwriting strategy, influence product development and drive digital transformation within a modern, direct‑to‑customer insurance model.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and underwrite referred Professional Indemnity and Directors & Officers risks.
• Provide technical underwriting expertise to support trading decisions and ensure alignment with risk appetite and governance standards.
• Monitor portfolio performance, analyse trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Contribute to pricing, rating and product development initiatives.
• Participate in digital transformation projects, including automation and AI‑driven solutions to enhance underwriting efficiency.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Professional Indemnity and Directors & Officers insurance underwriting.
• Proven track record in commercial and referral underwriting with delegated authority.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience managing underwriting referrals and working within robust control frameworks.
