Senior Project Engineer - Materials & Processes

About the role

As a Senior Project Engineer for Materials & Processes at Airbus Belfast, you will support A220 wing production, driving technical investigations and product improvements. Reporting to the Head of Department, you will work across design, manufacturing and supply chain to influence the next generation of aerospace composites.

Key responsibilities

• Manage Materials & Processes (M&P) activity in a production environment.
• Lead and resolve production issues related to M&P technologies.
• Drive cost‑ and quality‑focused product improvements for parts and assemblies.
• Coordinate activities with Manufacturing Engineering and M&P teams.
• Provide material selection support to Design, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality.
• Build and maintain a stakeholder network across Design, Procurement and Supply Chain Quality.
• Contribute to future aircraft development programmes and industrialisation projects.

Required profile

• Engineer with experience in M&P, including composite and metallic materials, assembly processes or chemical/environmental technologies.
• BSc/BEng (or HNC/HND) with at least 3 years (or 5 years for HNC/HND) relevant M&P engineering experience, including management or project‑management responsibilities.
• Proven ability to support M&P qualifications and developments.
• Strong networking and technical leadership skills in interdisciplinary projects.
• Desirable: aerospace experience and background supporting a production environment.
