Senior Composite Materials Engineer

About the role

Join Airbus Belfast’s Central Engineering Materials & Processes team to drive composite material activities in a fast‑paced aircraft production environment. You will support A220 manufacturing, contribute to future aircraft development programmes and help improve cost and quality of composite parts.

Key responsibilities

• Support composite material activities and resolve production issues for composite technologies.
• Improve product cost and quality aspects of composite parts.
• Collaborate with Plant Engineering and the Materials & Processes community.
• Provide material selection advice and support to Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain and Quality.
• Build and maintain stakeholder networks across Design, Procurement and Supply Chain Quality.
• Participate in future aircraft development programmes and industrialisation improvement projects.

Required profile

• Engineer with experience in composite materials and processes, including assembly and surface‑related technologies, material qualification, testing and failure analysis.
• Minimum HNC level (engineering) with at least 3 years of relevant Materials & Processes engineering experience; a degree in Engineering or Science is preferred.
• Experience supporting new material supplier qualifications and developments.
• Ability to lead technical projects in an international, interdisciplinary environment.
• Strong networking and technical leadership skills, with a problem‑solving approach.
