Senior Rail Traction Power / Substation Engineer

About the role

AECOM is expanding its Electrification & Power team and seeks a Senior Rail Traction Power / Substation Engineer to lead technical delivery on rail projects across the UK and internationally. You will ensure designs are accurate, cost‑effective, constructable and compliant with all relevant codes and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and deliver design packages across feasibility, outline, detailed design and construction phases.
• Perform independent checks of calculations, drawings and reports to verify compliance with standards.
• Develop concept and detailed design documentation, including calculations, reports and specifications.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, designers, junior engineers and external stakeholders.
• Conduct site visits, surveys and construction‑stage support to ensure design intent is met.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering rail traction power and substation projects to client satisfaction.
• Ability to operate at Independent Checker level and mentor junior team members.
• Strong understanding of relevant codes, standards and construction practices.
