Senior Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

Thought Machine is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join its London headquarters. You will be responsible for operating and evolving the production infrastructure that powers the core banking and payments platforms used by leading financial institutions worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Support product engineering teams in building fault‑tolerant, scalable applications through design discussions, RFCs and code reviews.
• Design, implement and maintain disaster‑recovery, backup, redundancy and capacity‑planning processes.
• Automate complex fleet‑management operations and develop operational tooling.
• Participate in a global on‑call rotation, handling incidents and ensuring high availability.
• Mentor junior team members and champion best‑practice communities across engineering.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders and SaaS customers on critical programmes and initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in site reliability, DevOps or comparable engineering roles.
• Strong understanding of cloud‑native infrastructure and large‑scale distributed systems.
• Ability to work effectively in a globally distributed, fast‑moving environment.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive attitude toward problem solving.
