Senior Social Worker – Children Looked After

About the role
Provide high‑quality social work services to children and young people looked after by the Local Authority, promoting their safety, wellbeing, development and long‑term outcomes. Work closely with children, families, foster carers and other professionals to ensure each child receives appropriate care and support.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of looked‑after children, undertaking assessments and developing, implementing and reviewing care plans.
- Ensure children’s voices, wishes and feelings are central to decision‑making and carry out statutory visits and reviews.
- Collaborate with foster carers, birth families, schools, health professionals and other agencies.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, prepare reports for reviews, court proceedings and other formal meetings.
- Contribute to permanence planning, including reunification, long‑term fostering, special guardianship and adoption.
- Support young people transitioning out of care and provide guidance to colleagues and less‑experienced social workers.
