Senior Software Engineer – Maritime Mission Systems

About the role

Thales Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Maritime Mission Systems team in Manchester. You will work on cutting‑edge sonar and mission‑critical software for UK and international navies, contributing to projects such as autonomous mine hunters, submarines, helicopters and frigates.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and test software components from detailed design through unit testing.
• Collaborate with software architects, product owners and integration teams across Thales sites.
• Maintain and evolve existing sonar and mission‑system solutions using Agile practices.
• Support integration activities and resolve bugs identified during testing.
• Document requirements, design decisions and test results.

Required profile

• Several years of experience developing complex software in an Agile environment.
• Proven ability to derive, manage and verify software requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Motivation to take responsibility for personal professional development.
• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or a related engineering discipline.
